5 Benefits of Cutting Caffeine
Just like a fierce HIIT workout, taking a detoxing from caffeine isn’t for the lighthearted. But, there are SO many benefits to cutting out caffeine that make pushing through the jittery struggle totally worth it! I’m in the middle of a caffeine detox as we speak and, though it ain’t easy, I’m already feeling better.
If you’re over there like “yeah girl, no way,” scroll on for all the reasons you should lay off on your favorite roast for even one week. I dare you to try it!
1. More Energy
That’s right, more -- not less! Did you know caffeine you consume even six. whole. hours. before bedtime can mess up your sleep?! WTF. If you’re feeling depleted, it’s better to completely cut out that afternoon booster so your body gets the rest it needs to create more natural energy.
2. A Happier Stomach
Caffeine is highly delicious and also (unfortunately) highly acidic. Ugh. To fight heartburn and indigestion from caffeine, consider curbing your habit completely instead of just reaching for an antacid.
3. Lower Stress
Feel like you can never chill tf out?! I know that feeling 100%, but also know it’s possible to calm down faster without caffeine in my life. The downside from caffeine’s rush of energy is that it literally triggers cortisol (the stress hormone) to pulse through your body. So while you might have more quick energy, it comes at a cost!
4. Weight Loss
When you drink your coffee, is it literally just black coffee or are you adding milks and sweeteners? Because you know what, those calories in your creamy AF latte add up! Cutting out coffee also means cutting out all those empty calories, which ultimately means weight loss. #Praise
5. Fewer Headaches
OK, OK, you’ll definitely have more headaches right at the beginning of a caffeine detox, but once those pass, you’ll have far less because your body will break the addiction! YAY.
