Read below to learn more.
Having a well-balanced diet and eating healthy foods should provide us with all of the nutrients that our body needs. But if our diet is not well enough, we might lose some of those nutrients that we need. And since due to our modern lifestyle, not everyone manages to eat a balanced diet.
This is how supplement enters to our daily lives.
What are supplements then?
Well, in general, it enhances a person’s health in different ways.
Supplements can help fill the missing nutrients in our diet. But remember, it can fill but it won't fix a person’s unhealthy diet.
Supplements are products which were designed to boost our daily intake of nutrients but it can't replicate all of the nutrients and benefits that we get from eating a normal and healthy food.
Supplements can also be taken if a person has a certain deficiency as it can possibly reduce the risk of having a medical condition in the future. But unlike medicines, it can’t claim to cure or prevent a disease.
Take note that even if supplements are readily available without a prescription and can be bought easily over the counter, still, it is good to get an advice first from medical professionals such as doctors or dietitians on what supplements that we personally need to take. And in case there are already medicines that we are taking, it is a must to let them know about it so that they can consider the effects of it on the supplements that they will prescribe.
Always remember that a supplement is usually not necessary if we eat the right amount of food and of course, proper exercise. It’s also about our lifestyle after all.
